It Only Takes a Spark

spark 1

We heard an amazing story about a sister who is on fire for the Lord. She is a sports teacher, with four children. The youngest is only one and a half years old. After she became a Christian, she was discipled by our missionary friend who met with her at 5 AM for prayer and bible study. For service, she volunteered to distribute Grace Meal to the poor. Since she had a burning zeal to share the gospel, everywhere she went, she would tell everyone about Jesus. Then she would ask them to pray to receive Jesus as their Savior. The result? Two hundred of them did, over the course of three months! Even though some may question their decision because they do not go to church, possibly because they feel they don’t fit in, it reminds me of what one person can do when God’s fire is burning in his/her life.

The lyrics of the song “Pass It On” goes:
“It only takes a spark to get a fire going.
And soon all those around, can warm up in its glowing.
That’s how it is with God’s love,
Once you’ve experienced it, you spread His love to everyone;
You want to pass it on.”

One spark is enough to ignite a fire. One person can bring the word of life to hundreds, even thousands. What about you? Are you lukewarm? What have you done for the Lord? Remember the words of the Lord in Rev. 3:16 “So, because you are lukewarm—neither hot nor cold—I am about to spit you out of my mouth.” Don’t wait till you have a degree to serve the Lord. Knowledge is good, but not the most important thing. Your heart is. Where is your heart? Is it burning and pliable? Or cold and hard? Some serve out of duty. Don’t be a duty Christian. It takes a disciple to train another disciple. Be a disciple yourself, then pass it on. Be a spark. Light the fire in others.
